Prime Spot Grid Bot introduces two powerful simulation environments to validate your grid strategies before risking real capital: the Historical Backtest Engine and the Live Paper Trading Module.
PART I: Advanced Backtest Simulation (Historical Data)
The Backtest engine pulls historical price data directly from the Binance API and simulates your Grid (including Auto Range, Sliding Grid, and DCA Safety Net) chronologically to evaluate past performance.
Step 1 โ Configure Your Grid Strategy
- Open the Prime Spot Grid Bot GUI and select the trading pair you want to test from the left sidebar.
- Adjust your settings in the Detailed Configuration panel (Grid Range, Grid Count, Pro Features, and Risk Management).
- Note: The backtest engine pulls the exact parameters currently active in your configuration form. You do not need to click "Save" if you are just testing variations.
Step 2 โ Launch the Backtest Module
- Click the ๐ BACKTEST button located in the action bar below the configuration form.
- The Advanced Backtest Simulation window will open for your selected pair.
Step 3 โ Set Simulation Parameters
In the Backtest window, define your simulation environment:
- From date & To date: Select the historical period you want to test using the calendar selectors.
- Simulated Capital (USDT): Set your starting base capital. The engine will use this to calculate precise grid limits and verify Binance's minimum notional limits.
Step 4 โ Run the Simulation
- Click the โถ LOAD DATA & START BACKTEST button.
- The bot will connect to the Binance API, fetch the OHLCV candlestick data, and process the grid simulation chronologically.
- Smart Caching: The downloaded market data is temporarily cached in memory. If you re-run a test on the same pair and date range to tweak grid counts or modes, it will load instantly.
Step 5 โ Review the Results
The built-in console will display a detailed log of the entire simulation:
- Grid Execution: View every buy and sell limit order that gets filled, tracking the grid as it oscillates.
- Fee Calculation: The engine automatically deducts a standard 0.1% exchange trading fee from every simulated fill to ensure your Grid Equity calculation is realistic.
- Final Report: The summary report details your Total Net Profit (USDT), Total Filled Orders, and Final Grid Equity.
Troubleshooting Tip: If the backtest report says "Not enough capital to meet Binance minimum order size," it means your Capital divided by your Grid Count is less than 5 USDT. You must either increase the Simulated Capital or reduce the number of Grids.
PART II: Live Paper Trading (Real-Time Data)
While Backtesting is great for past data, Paper Trading allows you to test your Grid configuration against the live market websocket in real-time, completely risk-free.
Step 1 โ Enable Paper Trading Mode
- In the main Client GUI, locate the Paper Trading toggle switch (usually at the top of the interface or within the specific pair's config).
- Turn the toggle ON. The UI will clearly indicate that the bot is now running in simulated mode.
Step 2 โ Start the Grid
- Ensure your API Keys are entered (the bot still needs them to fetch the live websocket stream, even though it won't execute real trades).
- Configure your Grid Range and Capital, then click โถ START BOT.
Step 3 โ Monitor Simulated Equity
- The bot will construct a "virtual" grid ladder.
- As the real Binance live price moves up and down, the bot will internally simulate fills for your grid orders.
- You can watch your Realized Profit and Floating PNL fluctuate in the Real-Time Status table just as if you were trading with real USDT.
- Once you are satisfied with how the grid behaves, you can Stop the bot, toggle Paper Trading OFF, and restart it to deploy real capital.
