This page focuses on strategy decisions and grid parameter tuning, not on internal execution logic.
If you are looking for how the bot computes ranges or places limits internally,
please refer to How the Bot Works.
1. Grid Strategy Mindset
- Grid trading does not try to predict the market direction; it captures volatility.
- Safer grids use wider ranges and fewer steps (lower capital exposure per step).
- Aggressive grids use tight ranges and high grid counts (high frequency, but vulnerable to breakouts).
2. Grid Mode Selection
- Arithmetic Mode (Fixed Price Step): Best for stable, sideways markets where price fluctuates within a predictable dollar range.
- Geometric Mode (Fixed % Step): Best for wide ranges or highly volatile assets where a $10 move at the bottom is vastly different in percentage terms than a $10 move at the top.
For ranges spanning more than a 30% difference between Ceiling and Floor, Geometric Mode is strongly recommended to maintain consistent profit margins per grid step.
3. Advanced Features by Market Condition
➡️ Sideways (Range-Bound)
- Setup: Standard Arithmetic Grid. Auto Range (Bollinger Bands) works perfectly here.
- Pro Features: Leave Sliding Grid and Trailing Down disabled. Let the price bounce between your fixed walls.
📈 Uptrend (Bull Market)
- Setup: Geometric Grid with a moderate number of steps.
- Pro Features: Enable Sliding Grid. If the price breaks your Ceiling, the bot will automatically shift the entire grid upward, acting as an "Infinity Grid" so you never miss a pump.
📉 Downtrend (Bear Market)
- Setup: Wide range grid to absorb the drops.
- Pro Features: Enable Trailing Down to let the grid sink with the price and lock in a lower baseline. Alternatively, enable DCA Safety Net to aggressively average down your entry price if the floor breaks, allowing for a faster recovery on the next bounce.
4. Grid Density (Grid Count)
- High Grid Count (e.g., 80 - 150): Generates many trades per day. Profit per grid is tiny. You must ensure the profit per step is higher than Binance's trading fee (0.1%), otherwise, fees will eat your gains.
- Low Grid Count (e.g., 10 - 30): Generates fewer trades, but each trade yields a significant profit percentage. Better for swing trading and avoiding fee erosion.
Binance requires a minimum of 5 USDT per order. The bot will warn you if your (Capital / Grid Count) falls below this threshold.
5. Equity Risk Management
- Equity Take Profit: Set a total portfolio target (e.g., +10%). Once the grid's realized profits + asset value hits this target, the bot shuts down and secures your gains.
- Equity Stop Loss: Protects against flash crashes. If your total grid value drops below your risk tolerance (e.g., -15%), the bot liquidates everything instantly to prevent further bleeding.
6. Recommended Starting Configurations
- Conservative Sideways: Auto-Range (Bollinger), Arithmetic Mode, 20-40 Grids, Pro features OFF.
- Aggressive Bull: Auto-Range (Recent High/Low), Geometric Mode, 50-80 Grids, Sliding Grid ON.
- Safety Bear: Manual Wide Range, Geometric Mode, 30 Grids, DCA Safety Net ON (2 Max SO, 2% Step), Trailing Down OFF.
